Civil Society, Norm, Resistance and Political Harm
This page brings together three visual lecture decks from The Calling Digest exploring how political actors are recognized, represented, and governed across resistance, civil society, and international institutional worlds. Moving from the limits of global norms in understanding Myanmar’s resistance to questions of civil society, CSOs, representation, brokerage, accountability, and the construction of the “actor,” the materials examine how legitimacy is produced through relationships, political labour, resources, institutional categories, and the ability to contest those who claim to speak or act on behalf of others. The aim is not to dismiss institutions or organizations, but to make the politics embedded in recognition, representation, and intervention more visible.
